Our Mission
The vision for Hope & Hammer KC was born out of lived experience.
As a parent of a child with special needs, I know firsthand what it means to live in a home that does not fully support a child’s medical, physical, or daily functional needs. Our home—like many—was never designed for wheelchairs, medical equipment, or the extra space required to move safely and independently. Simple tasks became daily obstacles. Narrow hallways, inaccessible bathrooms, and rooms that required constant modification added not only physical strain, but emotional and financial stress as well.Like so many families, we adapted out of necessity. We made changes where we could, when we could, often under pressure and without the luxury of time or ideal resources. Through those experiences, I came to understand how deeply a home environment affects a child’s safety, dignity, and independence—and how overwhelming it can feel for families already carrying so much.
At the same time, my professional life was rooted in residential remodeling. For more than a decade, I have designed, sold, and project-managed remodels of all sizes—from kitchens and bathrooms to full-home transformations. I understand construction timelines, client expectations, budget realities, cabinetry systems, and what it takes to lead subcontractors and bring complex projects to completion. In many ways, I was already operating as a remodeling business within someone else’s business.
Eventually, those two worlds—personal and professional—collided.I realized that the skills I had built over years in the remodeling industry could be used for something far greater than aesthetics or resale value. They could be used to change how children experience their homes. They could remove barriers, restore dignity, and create spaces where kids are safer, more independent, and better supported. That realization became Hope & Hammer KC.Our mission is to bring dignity, safety, and independence to children with special needs by providing accessible home modifications at no cost to families. We focus on practical, life-changing improvements—modifications that allow children to move freely, families to function more safely, and homes to finally support the people living inside them.Hope & Hammer KC exists because no child should be limited by the place they call home. We believe every child deserves a safe home designed for their abilities—not limited by them.
